Obituary for Gregory Dean Murphy


November 12, 1961 – October 12, 2017

Mr. Gregory Dean Murphy, age 55, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He was born November 12, 1961 to J. W. and Margene Murphy in Canton, Georgia.

Greg is survived by his mother, Margene Evans Murphy of the Jerusalem Community; brother, Jeff Murphy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; niece, Emma Murphy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; good friends, April Stone of Marble Hill, Kassie Hunt of Jasper; grandmother, Ruthell Greeson of the Jerusalem Community; and aunt and uncle, Jerry and Sheryl Evans of the Jerusalem Community. He was preceded in death by his father, J. W. Murphy.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend James Thompson and Reverend Ronnie Ray officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Roper Funeral Home.

Donations may be made in honor of Greg to the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
