Life Legacy
Mr. Gerhard Josef Sauer, age 75, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his home following a period of declining health.
Born on May 26, 1937, in Heidelberg, Germany, Gerhard led an interesting life. Having left Germany in the mid 1960’s, he moved first to Australia, then to the United States. Although Gerhard held many jobs over his lifetime, his profession was as a mechanical engineer. He traveled extensively with his profession and was instrumental in developing the process for making seamless, two-piece aluminum cans. Gerhard worked with precision to assure each machine ran like clockwise – German engineering. Gerhard was a patient, loving man. Anyone who knew him considered him one of the kindest men they ever knew. His wife, Eve, considered him the most loving man she ever knew. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Rest in peace, sweet Gerhard.
Mr. Sauer also attended the Jasper United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first Wife, Hilde Sauer.
He is survived by his Wife, Eve R. Sauer, of Jasper, Georgia, Sister, Elfrieda Gund, of Plankstadt, Germany, Step-Brother, Seigfreid Fildebrand and his Wife Monica, of Heidelberg, Germany. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 12PM Noon, Saturday, June 30, 2012 from the Jasper United Methodist Church, the Rev. Chip Wilson officiating with the interment to follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 am-11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 West Emery Street, Dalton, Georgia 30720 or to the Jasper United Methodist Church, 85 West Church Street, Jasper, Georgia 30143.
