He was born February 1, 1931 to Otes and Flara West in Ranger, Georgia. He was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. In 2011 he moved his membership to Friendship Baptist Church in order to be closer to his home. Mr. West is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy West of Fairmount; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kathy West of Fairmount; daughters and sons-in-law, Alesia and Lyle Watkins of Eatonton, Karen and Brantley Russell of Eatonton; grandchildren, Jessica and Sean Guerreso of Johns Creek, Katie Watkins of Eatonton, Lindsey and Chris Cygan of Orange Park, Florida, Lauren and Ethan Davis of Carlton, Tyler Russell of Sandy Springs; great-grandchildren, Emma Davis, Chloe Davis, Claire Davis, Caleb Cygan, Lucas Cygan, August Henderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Doris West, David and Kathy West; and sister, Sarah Mulkey. Several other family members and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otes and Flara West; brothers, Hoyal West and Max West, sisters, Doris Jackson, Thelma Crockett, and Dale Chambers. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Nathan Smith, Reverend Thomas Wheeler, and Reverend Grant Wade officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
