She was born February 7, 1947 to James and Elsie Arp in Cherokee, North Carolina. Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Casey Coker of Jasper; grandchildren, Madison Lawson of Savannah, Isabelle Lawson of Jasper/Canton; and sister, Genevieve Alexander of Rome. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Jack Roper. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Reverend Nathan Smith officiating. Honorary Pallbearer is Gene Prather. Pallbearers are Casey Coker, Allen Lanier, Vernon Hendrix, Shane Townley and Caleb Nievez.
