She was born February 16, 1948 to John and Edna Thompson in Canton, Georgia. Brenda worked many years in the cafeteria at school where she asked the kids to call her "Fat Nanny." Brenda is survived by her husband, Jerry Blackwell of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Michael Waters of Jasper; grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Blevins of Blue Ridge, Kayla and Brandon Esparza of Jasper, Christopher and Victoria Waters of Blue Ridge, Kristen and Austin Cornelius of Acworth; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Pipgras of White; and very special friend, Ty Coleman of Jasper. Several nieces, nephews, an infinity of adopted children, and several other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Thompson; four sisters; and four brothers. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m.; Sunday, March 3, 2024 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Mark Mitton officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
