Gay, age 79, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Piedmont Cartersville Hospital. He was born August 16, 1942 to Clyde and Mattie Dale Gay in Jasper, Georgia. Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann Gay of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, David and Renee Gay of Talking Rock; grandsons, Matthew Gay of Talking Rock, Travis Gunn of Talking Rock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Elaine Gay of Ball Ground, Kenneth and Wanda Gay of Jasper; mother-in-law, Annie Henderson of Jasper. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mattie Dale Gay; daughter, Stacy Gunn; and brother, Larry Gay. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Refuge Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Pickens Star Lodge #220. Mr. Gay was a 55 year Mason. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Friday, May 27, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Gay be made to Roper Funeral Home.
