Cynthia Lovell, 80, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026. Born on October 26, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Melissa Williams.
Cynthia was a strong Christian, a light unto God, and she loved serving other people. She loved singing in the church choir her whole life.
She also loved spending time with her family and cherished every opportunity to attend family gatherings, visit friends and loved ones, and travel. Her travels included time in Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada, and Australia. Even when her health made it difficult, in June she traveled to Delaware for her long-time friend's 80th birthday.
She was an active graduate of Miami Palmetto High School and attended TCU. She was the first woman to receive a Florida governor's television broadcasting certificate. After several years in television, she joined the Peace Corps and served in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Upon returning to the States, Cynthia had a thirty-year career as a Senior Project Manager in aeronautics for General Electric and Lockheed Martin. During this time, she was married and then preceded in death by Clarence Lowrey AFCM, US Navy.
She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Stephen, of Talking Rock, her sisters Wendy Connolly (Joe) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Kit Welch (Tim) of Boaz, AL, Gale Wilson of Lake Lure, NC, and three nephews Jarrett, Ryan, and Brian.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with Pastor Richard Walker officiating. The time and date will be announced.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
