He was born November 4, 1961 to Harley and Jessie Prather in El Paso, Texas. Danny loved his family deeply- they were the heart of his life. He also loved the outdoors, finding joy and peace in the beauty of nature and the time he spent outside. Danny will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. Danny worked for Peach State Trucking for 25 years. He was a clerk and deacon at County Line Baptist Church. Danny is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jan Prather of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Carlee and Brandon Nelson of Jasper; grandchildren, Evan Nelson and Etta Nelson; mother, Jessie Prather of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Joanna and Chris Holcomb of Jasper; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vernon and Melba Sullivan of Jasper; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Don Boggus of Jasper; nephews, Phillip Clark (Nicole) of Jasper, Nick and Megan Clark of Jasper; niece, Taylor Boggus of Savannah; great-niece, Cohen Clark; and great-nephew, Colson Clark. A host of cousins, extended family, and close friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Harley "Buck" Prather. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to United Community Bank for the grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at County Line Baptist Church, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Jess Posey, Brother Eddie Kerr, and Brother Jerry Banks officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
