David E. Clarisse, formerly of Williamson, Bergen and Shortsville, New York and most recently of Ball Ground, Georgia, died peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 88 years of age.
David was born on November 28,1934 in Rochester, NY to Peter and Mary (DeSmith) Clarisse. On June 14, 1956, he married Martha Fisher and together they raised four children: Alan (Diane) of Whiting, VT; William (Pam) of Ball Ground, GA; Bruce (Betsy) of Burlington, IA and Susan (Mark) Piehler of Keller, TX. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. David is predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard Clarisse and his wife of 58 years, Martha.
As a youth, David was known for raising and showing champion steer. After he married, he worked on his father's farm, Clarisse and Sons Angus Cattle. He began working for the New York Central Railroad, the name later changing to Conrail, in 1967 and retired in 1998. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, reading, training his horses, entertaining his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and puttering around his home.
His family will remember his engaging grin, his dry wit, his vast knowledge of many subjects and his unassuming disposition. He will be sorely missed.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
