He was born September 21, 1963 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to Donna Smith Holmes and later adopted by George Holmes. David was a 1981 graduate of Rossville High School. David is survived by his wife, Janie Evans Holmes of Jasper; mother and father, George and Donna Holmes of Fort Oglethorpe; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Nicole and Shane Curtis of Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler Reed, Jacob Holmes, Madison Curtis; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shawna Buchanan of Jasper; son, Johnathan Buchanan of Jasper; daughter, Melissa Buchanan of Jasper; brothers, Eddie Holmes, and Michael Holmes. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by grandparents, McArthur and Hazel Smith. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
