Bannister, age 83, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home. He was born April 14, 1939 to Elijah A. Bannister Sr. and Lila White Bannister in Yellow Creek. Elijah is survived by his wife, Helen Bannister of Jasper; children, Rusty (Marty) Bruce, Joyce (Jeff) Osborne, Deedee Saye, Andy (Tracy) Bannister, Jackie (Becky) Bannister, Lisa Thurmond, Leah Bannister (Keith Anglin); 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters. Several nieces and nephews and other family members also survive. Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Hyde and Reverend Little Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at 156 Free Hope Road; Jasper, GA 30143. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
