Essie Faye was born on May 19, 1941 to Grady and Thelma Carver in Jasper. Essie Faye is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Denise Godfrey of Hill City; son, Ronald Godfrey of Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tony Young of Talking Rock; grandchildren, Chris Godfrey, Brandon Queen, Natasha Hill, Kathleen Bradley, Jessica Allen, William Young; great-grandchildren, Jax, Emma, Ethan, Lane, Jacob, Wyatt, Cierra, Kendra, Sadie, Pasley; sister, Mary Lou Pettigrew; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Joyce Carver; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Annie May Carver and good friend, John Cannon. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. Essie Faye was preceded in death by husband, Roy Godfrey; daughter, Lois Downes; and brother, James Carver. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Buck Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Monday, January 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
