She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Donnie Bruce and sisters, Geneva Patterson and Clara Bunch. She was born January 8, 1928 to C. R. and Effie Smith Silvers in Pickens County. Freebon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Bruce is survived by her daughter, Gloria Bruce Coffey of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Kathy Bruce of Jasper; grandchildren, Matthew Bruce and Whitney Adams of Jasper, Lacey and Chad Jones of Jasper, Christopher Coffey and Bride McWilliam of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Marissa and Jones Krogh of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. A Graveside Service will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in honor of Freebon's love of animals to Pickens Animal Rescue 410 Old Whitestone Road Talking Rock, Ga. 301175 or the Alice Fund 310 Cherokee Boulevard, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37405.
