Roper Funeral Home and Crematory 206 Holly St Jasper, GA 30143 (706) 253-7500 (706) 253-0040 www.roperfuneralhome.com Helen Beck Petty, age 94, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Ellijay, Georgia. Helen was born March 12, 1927 to Walter and Cleo Beck in Washington Township, Ohio, and was one of six children: Nathan, Isabelle, Ruth, Laura, and Richard, who all preceded her in death. Helen was married to Ray C. Eaton, who preceded her in death and was the father of her children Mike and Cathy. She was later married to Howard Stotts and John Carling Petty, who also preceded her in death. Helen worked in the payroll division of the Federal Aviation Administration for many years and was a longtime Methodist. She traveled the world with family and friends and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and games, especially cards. If there was a Grandmother Hall of Fame she would be in it. Helen is survived by her daughter Cathy Eaton Jones and son-in-law David Bevel Jones of Jasper GA; son Michael Eaton and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Eaton of Morganton GA; grandchildren Shannon and William Clancy of New Orleans LA; Cameron and Brittany Jones of Decatur GA; Deanna and Andrew Morgan of McDonough GA; Nicholas and Stephanie Eaton of Jonesboro GA; great-grandchildren Louisa Helen Clancy, Eli David Jones, Callahan Mae Jones, Dakota Eaton, Madelyn Eaton, Mason Eaton, Ray Morgan, and Thomas Carter Morgan. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allison Eaton. A memorial service will be held at a later date at First United Methodist Church in Jasper, Georgia. Her ashes will be interred in a family plot in Galion, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
