He was born October 31, 1945 in Ellijay, Georgia to the late Joe Ensley Stamey and Myrtle Waddell Stamey Poole. Howard is survived by his wife, Sheila Stamey of Ball Ground, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amy Stamey of Ball Ground, Georgia; grandchildren, Owen Stamey and Isabella Stamey of Ball Ground, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Hollis and Diane Stamey of Jasper Georgia; sisters, Louise Sims of Jasper Georgia and Ruth Ware of Jasper, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lona Mae Buchanan, Lorene Cantrell, Ruby Heard and Helen Stamey; and brothers, Paul Stamey and Clay Stamey. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Caleb Parks officiating, The interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens: 1140 West Church Street, Jasper, GA 30143. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until just prior to the funeral service.
