He was born April 7, 1951 to William Ray Delay and Oveline Roxie Delay in Lafayette, Georgia. James is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jessica Delay of Dublin, Virginia; daughter, Beverly Hounshell of Wythewill, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Joyce Delay of Jasper; sister, Dianne Duford of Jasper; sister, Jean Harrah of Jasper; special friend and her daughter, Emily Poole and Christine; grandchildren, Isaac Delay and Zeb Delay. Several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, William Ray Delay; his mother, Oveline Roxie Delay; and brother, Rocky Lee Delay. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
