He was born June 22, 1941 to Vernie and Katie Richards in Marble Hill, Georgia. Leon is survived by his wife, Paulette Richards of Jasper; sons, James Richards of Ellijay, Tim Turner of Jasper, Kip Turner of Jasper; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Donnie Plumley of Jasper; grandchildren, Dustin Richards, Casey Richards, Jacquline Highfield, Allie Turner, Dakota Turner, Khole Turner; 8 great-grandchildren; nephew, Chris Plumley; and niece, Karen Jordan. He was preceded in death by his son, Jackie Richards; his parents; his sisters, Lucile O'Shields, Bessie Hamby; brother, Willie Richards; and his nephews, Wesley Jordan and Anthony Plumley. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. The family will accept flowers.
