Janet Gladys Stafford passed away peacefully joining the love of her life, Gordon E. Stafford and their daughter, Linda. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rodger King.
Janet is survived by daughter, Ellen J. Nelson and her husband, Paul; two sisters, Joan Webb, Joyce Walters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful "Neenie" to six grandchildren, Erin Harper (Gordon), Michael Nelson (Carla), Matthew Nelson (Katie), Brent Nelson, Elizabeth Hannah, and Alex Hannah. She had five great-grandchildren.
She was married in 1947 in Fort Plain, New York, and was married just shy of 68 years. She raised her family of two girls in Fort Plain, New York; Whitesboro, New York; Daytona Beach, Florida; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While she was in Florida, she attended nursing school and retired from nursing in the 1970s. Janet was an active Eastern Star member, member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of GE Wives and participated in square dancing for years.
Janet and Gordon were world travelers going on many trips. Disney World and the beach were happy places for her throughout her life. A 50th wedding anniversary brick graced the walkway between the Polynesian and Grand Floridian for years. She loved playing games and cards, was an avid bridge player and crossword puzzle solver. She was always up for fun with many friends and loved being with family and making memories. Her zest for fun will be missed.
A private ceremony and burial will be in Fort Plain, New York.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
