Her family later settled in Sarasota, Florida where she grew up and made treasured, lifelong friends. She was a majorette at Sarasota High School and after graduation worked as a travel advisor with Triple A (AAA). Later in life she found her true calling as a preschool and elementary teacher in Roswell, Crabapple and Tate. She loved young children and cared for their educational needs as well as their social needs, taking extra time with her students at Head Start. Jill was also very involved in church and was a longtime member of Roswell Presbyterian Church and later a member of Jasper United Methodist. She loved and served God through volunteering at church and through work at The Open Door in Atlanta and at CARES in Pickens County. Wherever she went, she was on the lookout for those in need and always took time to listen and lend a helping hand. She will be truly missed by many long time friends, family, fellow teachers and church friends. She is predeceased by her parents, John J McDonald and Mabel Parker McDonald and her beloved brother, Jack McDonald. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry David Cohn; her children, Leila Nobis Quinlan (Trevor), Edwin Mark Nobis (Shellie) and Jerry David Cohn, Jr (Laura) along with her cherished niece, Heather McDonald Powers and her grandchildren, Grace, Parker, Eden and Ian. The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff and administration of Manor House in the Meadow, Jasper, Ga. Donations in honor of Jill may be made to Jasper UMC or CARES for Pickens County. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
