He was born November 30, 1943 to Henry and Ruth Phillips in Alpharetta, Georgia. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie Phillips of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Will Brophy of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jill Minter of Jasper, Dawn and Robbie Bryan of Jasper; grandchildren, Brantley and Robert Detherage of Chatsworth, Spencer Jinright of Calhoun, McKinley Brophy of Anchorage, Alaska, Hunter and Haley Brophy of Hunt, Texas, Caroline and Jon Herring of Dawsonville, Emily Minter of Gainesville, Laney and Chris Clanton of Grantville; great-grandchildren, Danielle Jinright, Catie Jinright, S. J. Jinright, Ellie Detherage, Easton Minter, Boden Herring; sister, Peggy Cochran of Canton. From Jim's larger-than-life personality to his smile that could light up any room Jim was an amazing husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He felt his most precious role was "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim fiercely loved his family and if you were his friend, you would have a friend for life. He loved the Lord, and his daily life was his testimony. Jim will be dearly missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
