Garsell, age 73, of Ball Ground, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Northside Hospital Forsyth. She was born November 3, 1948 to J.W. (Todd) and Clara Mae Mathews in Jasper. Joan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Delleene and David Worley of Ball Ground, Rosa and Bobby Turner of Cumming, Hannah Holloway; sons, Joseph Holloway, Kory Garsell, Jackson Fazzio; sisters, Carol Mathews of Dawsonville, Wanda Walls of Dawsonville, Dinah Densmore of Ball Ground; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and June Mathews of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Emily Reed, Ashley Foster, Mathew Turner; and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerardo Garsell and her parents, J.W. (Todd) and Clara Mae Mathews. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Chris White and Gary Keown officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
