He was born November 6, 1959 in Tate, Georgia. Joey is survived by his children, Shaquita Russell of Cartersville, Joey Russell Jr. "JoJo" of Cartersville; grandchildren, Jordan Russell, Jayden Russell, Cali Russell; sister, Janice Williams of Jasper; brothers, James E. Bridges of Smyrna, Jeffery C. Bridges of Washington, D. C.; uncles, Owen Russell, Clayxton Russell, Perry Russell; mother of the children, Jackie McKinney; nephews and nieces, Montavious and Courtney Bridges and their children, Zayden & Malaysia; niece, Ashley Bridges, and many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members. Also surviving are special friends Brandy Wofford, Alana Wofford, Willie Stephens, Ian Stephens, and Issac Bridges. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Bridges; his father, Jorelle Russell; son, Torey Russell; sister, Jerarld Bridges; and special friend, Brenda Wofford. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Tyrone Gates, Reverend Leo Hampton, and Elder Linda Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park. Mr. Russell will lie-in-state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family request masks be worn for visitation and the Funeral Service.
