Ray was born October 3, 1952 to Herbert and Blanche Strickland in Canton, Georgia. Ray is survived by his daughters, Kerry Strickland and Heather Stevens of Jasper, Leigh and Kevon Combs of Alto; special cousins (close as siblings), Jerrie Butler of Jasper and Barry Butler of Jasper; uncle, Uncle Jim Lawson; step-daughters, Brooke Defoor Whittle of Toccoa, Lauren Moavero of Toccoa. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Blanche Strickland; son, Matt Strickland; and wife, Susan Strickland. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Jerrie Butler officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pickens Senior Center or Micah Church Cemetery Fund will be appreciated.
