Karen Wooten, age 74, passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of January 14, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the life she loved.
Karen was born on June 26, 1951, in Bakersfield, California, to Dorothy Benthal and Clarence "Luke" Lucas both of whom preceded her in death.
She shared 58 years of marriage with her loving husband, Craig Wooten. Their life together was marked by a passionate love-one that burned hot and cold through the years, yet was rooted deeply in commitment, history, and devotion.
Karen was the treasured mother of two children, Kim Fitts and Michael Wooten. She was immensely proud of them and loved them fiercely. Kim is married to Ralph Fitts, and Michael is married to Barbara. Her family was her heart.
She was a loving grandmother to Cody, Josh, and Jessie, and she also embraced and cherished her step-grandchildren as her own. Josh is married to Brisa, and together they are the proud parents of Emma. Jessie is married to Caleb, and they have three children: Lucas, Chance, and Kimberly. Karen was especially blessed to meet her great-granddaughter, Kimberly, before her passing-a gift that brought her great joy and peace.
Karen is survived by her sister, Cheryl Hyder; several nieces and nephews; and her very close and dearly loved sisters-in-law, Becky Taylor and Pat Wooten.
A quiet soul by nature, Karen found her greatest happiness in simple things. She loved her dogs deeply and enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding through the woods on her side-by-side with them faithfully by her side. That peace and simplicity defined her life.
Karen is now at rest in Heaven, reunited with her beloved Uncle Roger and the family members who went before her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet devotion that will live on through all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
