Kathie spent her childhood years in San Jose, California and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a high school graduate of Hixson High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She spent her adult years in Atlanta, Georgia and attended The Art Institute in Atlanta. Kathie held many roles in her life but one of her most beloved roles was being a teacher at the Wood Acres School in Marietta, Georgia. Kathie served as a teacher at this school for over 30 years and cherished every student and coworker she had. Some of her dearest friends are those that she worked with at Wood Acres who stood by her until her last days. Kathie's students were deeply loved by her, and she invested in their lives. Kathie's other, beloved role was her title of "Aunt Kathie" to Emma, Hannah, and Will Carter. She devoted her entire life to loving and caring for them. Kathie is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Howell Lamar Carter "Bud," and Loraine Carter Robbins; her maternal grandparents, Edwin and Catherine Stepehens; and her father, William "Bill" Allen Carter. She is survived by her mother, Bettye Louise Carter; brother, Gregory Allen Carter and his wife, Sharma; and her nieces and nephew, Emma Grace, Hannah Elizabeth, and William Allen Edward Carter. Kathie will be remembered for her giving heart, her kindness, and the joy and deep care she brought to life and to those around her. She will be missed greatly and forever cherished and loved. "Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? When it's over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride, married to amazement. Tell about it." - Mary Oliver A celebration of life will be held on February 28th, 2026, at 40 Little Pine Mountain Road, Jasper, Georgia 30143 - The Bent Tree Clubhouse at 12:30 PM.
