She was born March 24, 1948 to Charlie Thomas and Willie Jean Wigington in Jasper, Georgia. Margaret is survived by her husband, H. A. Holmes of Jasper; daughters, Sherry Lynn Davis of Jasper, Andrea Michelle Holmes and Peter of Jasper, Rita Necole Wheeling of Jasper; grandchildren, Justin Holmes of Jasper, Jacob Davis and Emily of Jasper, Nicholas Davis of Jasper, Zachary and Kimmy Davis of Holly Springs, Devin Pinyan of Jasper, Reece Wheeling of Jasper, Cody and Alice Harkins of Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Terrell and Diane Wigington of Jasper, Joe and Edna Wigington of Marietta; sister, Vanessa Cooper of Jasper. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tommy "Doc" Wigington; and niece, Kelly Strubing. Margaret led a full and nurturing life, deeply connected to her family and the activities she enjoyed. Gardening and canning were some of her favorite activities and were wonderful ways to be close to nature and share the fruits of her labor with her loved ones. Her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and wife brought her much joy. She was a die-hard republican. She had three things she wanted to see before she died. She wanted to see her granddaughter graduate, she wanted to see Trump get elected again, and see her last great-grandchild born. Margaret was outspoken and always spoke her mind. She was a go getter, always doing something. Margaret loved working in her yard. She loved gardening and cooking. She loved her family more than life. She was a hairdresser for 20 plus years and made many friends. Everyone who knew her loved her. She rooted for the underdog and couldn't stand for anyone to be wronged. She was honest as the day is long. And if she had your back, she was there for you if you were on the wrong side or the right. Her love never wavered. She had a heart of gold and a very tender heart. She will be missed dearly! Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2025 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Friday, February 7, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. The family will accept flowers. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
