Margarette "Monk" Kown, age 82 of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at The Retreat of Jasper. She was born October 10th, 1942 to Thomas A. and Ruth Lindsey in Jasper, Georgia.

Survivors include daughter, Teresa Roper of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Christy Kown of Peoria, Az; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Marty Garland of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Michael Callahan of Jasper; grandchildren, Bryce Goss of Sapporo Japan; Jessica Roper of Bainbridge, Ga; Brooks Cartledge of Glendale, Az; Chase Garland of Jasper; JulieAnne Roper of Jasper; Meg Kown of Phoenix, Az; Sister, Cheryl Darnell of Powder Springs, Ga; and brothers Tom Lindsey of Jasper; and John Lindsey of Warner Robbins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Kown; parents, Thomas and Ruth Lindsey; and sister, Debbie Daly.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, October 28, 2024 in chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. David Stuart Officiating. Internment will follow in the Jasper City Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
