She was born October 26, 1935 to Farris Carter and Cordelia Cox in Tate, Georgia. Sue worked for the Pickens County School system for many years and loved reading and doing word puzzles. Sue is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kenneth Lowman of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Joy Godfrey of Talking Rock; daughter, Trena Godfrey of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Martha Godfrey of Jasper; grandchildren, Adam and Michelle Godfrey, Damon Lowman, Lucy and Douglas Weatherford, T. J. Hester, Seth Godfrey, Isaac Crane, Eli Godfrey; great-grandchildren, Jack Godfrey, Julianna Godfrey; and sister, Mary Cook of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by son, Lamar Godfrey; sisters, Althea Godfrey, Lib Ingram, Mert Bohannon, Ruby Cole; and brothers, Albert "Ab" Cox and Buman Cox. Services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Parks and Rev. Buck Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Forest Memorial Park: 280 Camp Road, Jasper, GA 30143.. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday, December 18, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
