Brenda was a true Southern Appalachian Christian woman who was a retired teacher from the Pickens County Board of Education. There was nothing she loved more than to garden, sew, take drives in the mountains, and spend time with her family and friends. Ms. Pendley was preceded in death by her parents, J. Garland and Lemma Holbert; brother, G. Earl Holbert; brother, Andrew Holbert; sister Elizabeth Forrester; and son-in-law, James "Bo" Champion. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Champion; granddaughter, Jana Champion; grandson James "Bo" Champion, II; nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m.; Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Buck Parker and Reverend Noland Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery. Pall Bearers will be James "Bo" Champion II, Roy Dobbs, Marcus Kinser, Michael Hancock, Samuel "Gus" Welburn, Aaron Bruce, George Davis, and Robert "Bob" Davis. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will accept flowers or those who desire may make donations to Crossroads Baptist Church.
