Shields, age 85, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. She was born March 17, 1936 in Decatur, Tennessee. Mattie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Joanne Chivington of Jasper; daughter, Jennifer Guinn; sister, Janis Miller of Pell City, Alabama, sister-in-law, Sandy Richardson of California; grandchildren, Johnathan Chivington, David and Angel Mitchell, Jason Dupree, Deanne Harrison, Kellie Headden; great-grandchildren, Coby Harrison, Landon Harrison, Kaiden Tilson, Kensly Doran, Aurora Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Shields; parents, Virgil and Daisy Harmon; brother, J. L. Harmon; and infant son, Sammy Guinn. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Trask officiating.
