Melissa was born on February 1, 1970 to James and Reva Mae Hancock Hamrick in Jasper, Georgia. Melissa is survived by husband, Doug Jones of Jasper; daughters, Andrea Downes of Adairsville, Shanda Freeman of Atlanta; grandson, Amari Parks; granddaughter, Brooklyne Fischer; brother, Jerry Hamrick of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Sherry Hamrick of Calhoun, brother, Glenn Hamrick of Ellijay; sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Johnny Atkins of Cartersville; sister, Jean Hight of Adairsville; and special friend, "sis" Ann Bryant. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, James Lawson Hamrick and mother, Reva Mae Hamrick, and brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Selena Hamrick. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday September 8, 2025 at Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Grant Wade officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Sunday September 7, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
