He was born November 9, 1970 to Johnny Roy and Carolyn Clayton in Gwinnett County. Michael is survived by his life partner of 13 years, Ashlee Chaney of Ball Ground; daughters, Addie Chaney Clayton, Makenna Clayton; step-daughter, Aubree Chaney; sons, Christopher Clayton of Jasper, Matthew Clayton of Jasper, Jacob Clayton of Jasper; brother, Mitchell Clayton of Jasper; sister, Ladora Clayton; and best friend, Jaime Fincher of Talking Rock. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Roy Clayton, and his mother, Carolyn Clayton. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Eulogy by long-time friend, Carlan Hodges and closing prayer by Cortney Thibodeau.
