Nola 'Dell' Rymers was born to Luther 'Duncan' and Gladys Hargrove in Canton, Texas in 1936. She passed away March 12, 2024.
Dell was the youngest of seven children and is survived by her brother, Roy Hargrove, 92, of Arlington, Texas. Dell graduated from Canton High School in 1954 where she held the title of Class Treasurer, voted 'Best Looking', and married her high school sweetheart, Most Popular and Class Clown, John 'Johnny' Merchant in 1955.
Dell and John had four children, Kimberly, LaNisa, Johnny, and Terri Lynn. John and Dell moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1974 when a professional opportunity was offered to John.
After raising their kids in the Atlanta area, Dell went back to school to obtain her Accounting Degree and worked for Georgia's Teachers Retirement System until she retired.
Dell was not only a dedicated and loving Mother, but faithful to her Lord and Church Family, Fellowship Presbyterian of Jasper. She was a dedicated volunteer within the Jasper area to include 'Meals on Wheels', Jasper Thrift Store, and counseling women in need. She had a giving heart, and a mentor to us all.
Dell was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1983 and after 10 years found love again in Phil Rymers. Phil and Dell were married from 1993 until Phil's death in 2011. The marriage gave Dell two stepsons, David and John; a daughter-in-law, Irma; and two grandchildren, Melissa and William.
Dell is survived by all of her children, daughter-in-law, Cecily; sons-in-law, Mike Larson and Jimmy Bryant; stepson, David Rymers and daughter-in-law, Irma. Dell was blessed with eight grandchildren, Dustin, Zach, Travis, Abigail, Analin, Kira, William and Melissa; and beloved great-grandson, Maddox Grey.
Dell was a beautiful woman on the inside and out. She walked this earth with grace, kindness, a kind word, and gentle yet firm message of advice when needed. She was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her and we all walked away a little better just being in her presence. She will be forever missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fellowship Presbyterian Church of Jasper, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 with Reverend Blake Hudson officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
