Obituary for Betty D Wall

Betty D. Wall, long-time resident of Atlanta GA, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Friday morning October 13, 2017 at her eldest son’s and daughter–in-law’s home in Midway GA.

Betty was born on November 7, 1929 in Canton GA. She was the only child of Truman Arthur Darby and Essie Pittman Darby. The family soon moved to Pickens County Ga, the birth area of Truman Darby. She attended school in the area and graduated from Tate High school. While at the school, she was very involved in the student council and participated in the school’s basketball team. While at Tate High School, she developed a lifelong friendship with Kathryn Andrews that continued until Betty’s passing.
After high school graduation, she moved to Atlanta to attend business school and there she developed another life-long friendship with Mickey Todd. That friendship continued until Betty’s passing.
Soon after graduating from business school, she met her soon to be husband, David Bennett Wall. They were married on November 26, 1958 at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Clayton County GA. They remained married until his passing on September 29, 1991.
During the first 14 years of her marriage, Betty was a stay-at-home Mom—as was the wishes of her and her husband, David Bennet Wall Sr. As her children entered high school, Betty re-entered the work force and worked in the bookkeeping field for Charlene’s Florist in Atlanta for many years until retirement.
After her husband’s death, Betty was invited and moved into the home of youngest son and daughter-in-law’s home in Lawrenceville GA. While making that her permanent address, Betty’s life centered around the three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her son and daughter-in law and the friendships she developed over the years in Atlanta. During her final 7 years while living with her son, she developed a special bond with a neighbour, Terry Lewis, who was a true friend.
Betty Wall was preceded in death by her parents, Truman Arthur Darby, Essie Pittman Darby and her husband David Bennett Wall Sr.
She is survived by her 2 loving sons, David Bennet Wall Jr and Timothy Warner Wall, her 2 daughter in laws, Lynn Wall and Patricia Wall.
In addition her grandchildren Timothy Chase Wall, Cristi Nicole Wall, and Trevor James Wall.
As well as great-grandchildren Braedyn and Madilyn.
Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, GA.
