He was born June 6, 1956 in Tate, Georgia. Mr. Hampton is survived by his mother, Lois Cherry of Jasper; special friend, Janie Hall of Ellijay; six children, Nicolas Cohill, Trayvon Hampton, Summer Burdick, Nikko Hampton, Madeline Hampton, Heather Hall; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Betty Robinson and Joseph Knight, Linda Weems, Ricky and Donna Cherry, Michael Cherry, Dorothy Cherry, Ivory Morgan, Clarissa Pratt, Denise Jackson, Randy Cherry, James Cherry Jr. Several other nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by father, James Cherry Sr.; brother, Bruce Cherry; sister, Pauletta Maddox; and brother, Donald Cherry. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Stewart officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
