Psalm 30:5 Rick Holmes, age 59 of Talking Rock, Georgia gained ultimate joy Sunday, February 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Rick found joy each and every day of life. He taught us to seek joy in the small things... the joy in the sunshine..., the joy in the rain. Let us embrace the joy. Rickey Guin Holmes (Homer) was born on March 21, 1964. His joy came from life-long partner and love, Connie Suzette Quinton Holmes; children, Maria Campano, Candra Lee Holmes (Levi) Sellers and Tyler Guin (Shania) Holmes. Grandchildren, Kragen and Kylee Nichols, Jonas and Josiah Sellers brought more joy. Other survivors are sister, Janet Holmes Davis and niece, Lina G. Davis; mother-in-law, Vivian Quinton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Quinton; several nieces and nephews, Jessica (Ben) Wells, Fred (Alexis) Quinton and Josh (Kaitlyn) Quinton, Tripp (Erin) Shaw and Cooper (Taylor) Shaw and several great nieces and nephews, and many dear cousins. He was preceded in death by parents, Guin Vernon Holmes and June Lee Henderson Holmes; sister, Judy Lee Shaw and brother-in-law, Thomas M (Tommy) Shaw and dear grandmother (Adopted 2nd mother) Ruby Teems and father-in-law, John Quinton. Rick lived a life of celebration. He celebrated the lives of family and friends. He was a skilled craftsman who gave a new life to items old and new. These are now treasures to his family and friends. His legacy is to love all, to welcome all, to care for all and laugh a little along the way. In his words, "find the joy, find the love, celebrate life and give each and every day." Services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Janet Davis officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to the family for medical expenses.
