He died Monday, October 3, 2022. He was a 1949 graduate of West Fulton High School and he proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Following his return to civilian life, he went back to the insurance business and retired after thirty-two years with The London Agency, Inc. He lived the last 25 years in Jasper, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, and his son, Donald. Mr. Brooks is survived by his son, Darryl; daughter-in-law, Cathy; granddaughter, Shannon Dyal and her husband, Bill. He will be buried in a private service next to his wife, Gloria Brooks, in Decatur, Georgia. Donations in his name can be made to two of his favorite charities: The Wounded Warrior Project and Pickens County Animal Shelter. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
