Roger was born on October 9, 1955, to the late Eddie Almeda Strickland and Earl Jetter Weldy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, strength, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Roger was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Kathy Weldy. Roger and Kathy shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, creating countless cherished memories and enjoying many amazing trips together. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jody Weldy, David Weldy, and Timmy Weldy. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amanda Stewart (Nick); his grandsons, Hunter Weldy, Isaiah Roberts (Caroline), and Turner Stewart; his niece, Stephanie Duncan; his nephew, Scotty Hammontree (Tonya); his brothers, Gerald Weldy (June), Richard Weldy (Denesia), and Terry Pool; his sisters, Theresa Pierce and Tammie Wells (Mitch); his sons, Jason Weldy and Chris Weldy and several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Roper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Caylor officiating. Interment will follow at Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nick Stewart, Isaiah Roberts, Turner Stewart, Hunter Weldy, Scotty Hammontree, and Danny Hammontree. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Hollingshead. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.
