She was born December 6, 1943 to Reverend Carl and Bertie Faye Owenby in Gilmer County. Shirley is survived by her son, Mike McArthur of Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Crisanna and Brian Hayes of Tate; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Manona Owenby of Fortson, Georgia; grandchildren, Clay McArthur of Atlanta, Lila Hensley (Kaleb) of Jasper, Ariel Hayes of Jasper, and Ansley Hayes of Oklahoma. Nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry R. McArthur; parents, Reverend Carl and Bertie Owenby; father-in-law, Herbert McArthur; and mother-in-law, Paulene McArthur. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Joey Phillips, Reverend Tim Hyde and Reverend Anthony Stonecipher officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitestone Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
