He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William Robert Anderson. He is survived by his mother, Betty Anderson; his wife of 51 years, Susan Louise Knott Anderson; his daughters, Claire (Scott) Metzloff, Emily (Jamie) Cheshire, and Adren (Steve Yocom) Anderson; and his siblings, William "Buz" (Cathy) Anderson, Beverly (Lance) Gunderson, and Michael Anderson. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Emerson, Cabell, Lennon, Susan, Eliza, and Willa, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and his faithful puppy, Sawyer. Steve dedicated his career to the forestry industry beginning in the 1970's, finding deep purpose in the outdoors and a lifelong love for the beauty, peace, and stewardship of nature. He will be remembered for his steady love, quiet strength, generosity, delicious meals, great taste in music, love of sports (Go Gators) and the countless ways he showed up for the people he loved. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
