He was born December 12, 1931 to Henry Grady and Mary Josephine Ferrell in Marietta, Georgia. Ray is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Richard Kirkland, Lavonne and Mark Doty; grandchildren, Brooke Kendall, Jennifer and Paul Bradley, Allison and Clint Saggus; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Campbell Thurmond, McKenzie Thurmond and Connor Rigsby, Baylee Thurmond, Merritt Thurmond, Luke Kendall, Alexis Kendall, Grace Saggus, Georgia Saggus; great-great-grandchildren, Kayden Thurmond, Waylon Thurmond, and Cayson Rigsby. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Poole Ferrell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Hattie Ferrell, Roy and Irma Ferrell; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Sims Boudreau. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Jasper; 198 East Church Street; Jasper, Georgia. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery.
