Butch was born June 11, 1947 to William and Sue Brendel in Jasper, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Butch is survived by his wife, Marsha Brendel of the Hinton Community; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Mark Owens of the Hinton Community; grandchildren, Haley Owens, Alyssa Owens; nephew, Joey VanSant; very special nephew who donated him a kidney, Jacob VanSant; brother-in-law, Homer Thomason of Lilburn, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Connie and Rick Luense of Fairmount, Margie Wilson of Fairmount; very special great-niece, Brynlee. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Sue Brendel; and sister, Sandra Morrison. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Friendship Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Owens, Reverend Jerry Banks, and Reverend Jess Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob VanSant, Joey VanSant, Deke Hightower, Benny Kirby, Dean Davis, Pat Hendrix, Rick Luense and Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Dean, Morris Duncan, and Homer Thomason. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Monday, May 4, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
