He was born December 8, 1949 to John William and Martha Pool in Jasper, Georgia. He proudly served in the United States Army in Intelligence. He then became Editor of the Pickens Progress. William is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Pool of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Jamie Pool of Dunwoody; grandchild, Joseph Pool of Dunwoody; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Robert and Shirley Pool of Jasper, Dan and Christie Pool of Jasper; nephew , John Allen Pool of Jasper; nieces, Madeline Pool of Jasper, Ellie Pool of Jasper; aunt, Bobbie Edge of Jasper; sister-in-law, Shirley Totherow; nephews, Keith Totherow and Bryan Totherow. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2022 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Max Caylor officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. The family will accept flowers or in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in William's honor to be sent to Jeep Fest or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
